Over the fierce objections of corporate special interests, the General Assembly passed a smart new law to provide hardworking Marylanders with paid sick leave.
Nearly three in four Marylanders support paid sick leave, including a majority of independent and Republican voters.
In the State Senate, fourteen Republicans and four Democrats -- including Senator Bobby Zirkin -- fought against paid sick leave, and Governor Larry Hogan vetoed the bill. Make no mistake about it: Hogan, Zirkin, and their allies caved to the special interests, turned their backs on working people, and ignored the will of the overwhelming majority of Marylanders.
In January, the General Assembly's first order of business will be to override the Governor's veto -- which gives Bobby Zirkin a second chance to show us he stands with working families, not corporate special interests.
Add your name to the growing list of Marylanders who are counting on Bobby Zirkin to do the right thing by voting to override the Governor's veto of paid sick leave.
