After years of hearings, debate, workgroups, and studies Maryland lawmakers passed the Healthy Working Families Act to provide over 700,000 working Marylanders with paid sick leave. This measure would have given workers the ability to prioritize their health and the health of their families, without having to worry about losing their jobs.
Despite an overwhelming 74% of Marylanders supporting paid sick leave, Governor Larry Hogan vetoed the Healthy Working Families Act - favoring private corporate interests over the needs of Maryland's workers and leaving 700,000 Marylanders out in the cold. The discrepancy between the policies Maryland needs and the Governor's priorities illustrates just how out of touch Hogan is with the needs of our state.
Marylanders deserve leaders who will stand up for us. Add your name to the growing list of Marylanders who support paid sick leave and think Larry Hogan needs to start standing up for us.
